Study Reveals Schools and Universities Can Save Hundreds, Even Thousands of Dollars Each Month Implementing A Simple Software Solution to Control Daily Printing.

Software Shelf International, Inc., a global software solutions company, today released a commissioned study conducted on over 700 schools and universities in the US, UK and Europe. The study uncovered the number one common problem system administrators and department managers have had for years — the inability to successfully address printing waste.

Nearly two thirds of the respondents indicated that printing waste drove their printing costs out the roof. Unfortunately, many schools just cannot afford large hardware based print management solutions. They don't really have the resources and time to train staff on complex systems or pay for high priced consulting services. They needed an inexpensive and easy to use but effective software solution.

“Print Manager Plus® software allows you to quota and track student printing and printer usage and gives even the novice complete control over these valuable resources — namely printers, paper and toner,” said Rudi Loehwing, VP Marketing Software Shelf Europe. “No more going over budget from uncontrolled and irresponsible printing. Although Print Manager Plus does much more, it is very simple to use and managers will be amazed how much they will save,” he added.

According to a manager at Yale University, “Our printing costs have increased significantly over the past four years… We anticipate that this solution may save us up to $10,000 per year in printing costs. This will allow us to put this money back into the lab.”

“While most students printed just what they needed for school, some printed irresponsibly,” said Brian Pugh of Westview School. “Being able to track users and charge them before they were able to print has all but stopped any irresponsible printing,” said Pugh. “We can save money that was being used on paper, toner and sales taxes, for texts and software.”

“Print Manager Plus is the only complete, easy to use, low cost solution to all of a manager's or department head's printing concerns,” said Bill Feeley, CEO of Software Shelf International. “It’s fully scalable, runs on all available printers throughout the network, and unlike other expensive products, requires no special training or consulting services.”
